Amid public out cry for justice in the alleged armed robbery case at the former Chief Justice’s home, information circulating on Social media -Facebook by the Liberia National Police says that the Former Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia her Honor Cllr. Gloria Maya Musu-Scott had refused to comply with the LNP by giving her side of the story.

The Deputy Inspector General for Crime Services of the Liberia National Police, Col. Prince Mulbah confirmed the information posted on the official Facebook page of the LNP.

According to Col. Mulbah, the police had spoken to the Genesis Security guard service men that were haired by Justice Musu-Scott and her cousin that were present during the time the incident occurred are the ones aiding the police in the investigation.
Speaking to Newsmen on Thursday, 2 March 2023 at MICAT press briefing, the top man for Crime Services at the LNP added that, the police is yet to speak to the five occupants of the house which one of them is deceased.

“We have had a lot of challenge when it comes to our investigation, I think the issue is a sealed home had been attacked by unknown person, the occupants that living in the house will be the best persons to tell the police how it happened?; What happened in there? So on that basis we can move on with further investigation. But we haven’t been able to speak to any of the occupants. There were five occupants, one is deceased the other four we haven’t been able to speak to them respect to what unfolded in the house”.

Meanwhile, the former Chief Justice, her Honor Cllr. Gloria Maya Musu-Scott had publicly denied the allegation by the Liberia National Police that she refuses to cooperate with the police, addressing Journalists at the LNP headquarters.
Justice Scott said following the unforeseen incident at her residence, she has repeatedly worked with three separate teams of police investigators and wonders why authorities of the LNP were misinforming the public that she had refused to cooperate with police investigators.

“Many persons do not know this. Following the night of this incident and the Redemption Hospital had diagnosed that the little girl was declared dead, I went straight to the home of the Justice Minister, and at that time he assigned two police officers with me. The next day, I encountered police investigators. Even now, this seems like an unending nightmare. That same day they came and talked to me and the following day another team of police came and talked to me. On Friday, the week following the incident, the Justice Minister and a team of investigators talked to me also. At that time nobody had told me that they needed to talk to other members of my household. ”

“Taking into consideration various media reports of police that I was refusing regardless of prior investigation with me, this is the time I began to simmer down the cause in law school we were told that only a fool takes upon himself a defense. So, all that had been in the media both locally and internationally of my refusal to cooperate with the investigators, this is what I’m speaking to. From my experience and training when the investigation is conducted, the investigating institutions are allowed to proceed with their work, and even when they are giving an update to the public, m you speak to secure the investigation; to protect the integrity of investigation. But the whole narrative that had been out there that counselor Scott had refused to cooperate with the police investigator is what I’m speaking to. This investigation is critical and from my training and experience, this investigation must be handled professionally. Former Chief Justice Gloria Scott started”.

On the issue of whether she recognized Varlee Telleh, on the night of the attack, former Justice Scott stated that the source of information will respond to that, but she remembered that the person within their home the night of the incident, killed her little granddaughter.

She stated that she encountered the person physically in the eye with the paper spray because it was the question of life and death.

Proud to the appearance of former Justice Scott and a team of lawyers, police authorities prevented the presence of a journalist.

Police spokesman Moses Cater told Journalists that the measure was to protect the ongoing investigation, as police would provide updates subsequently.

The action by the police sparked mixed reactions by journalists expressing doubts about getting first-hand accounts of both investigators and victims amidst claims and counterclaims.

It can be recalled, on February 22, 2023, the was an Armed robbery attacks on the compound of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scotts that left one person dead, and another badly wounded.

On Thursday, 2 March 2023, score of women addressed in black assembled at the Capital Building and petitioned lawmakers to ensure that justice is served after armed robbers murdered Charloe Musu weeks ago.

The women dressed in black, held posters bearing the image of Charloe, daughter of Liberia’s former Chief Justice Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, and images of other victims of previous mysterious deaths here.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the Senate, Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Kanga-Lawrence said the Senate has already started acting.
She told the protesters that the Senate has already summoned the Police Inspector General and the Justice Minister to comment on the recent incident at Cllr. Scott’s residence.

She also said the Senate has summoned all authorities of the joint security to appear before full plenary next Tuesday. The Grand Bass Senator and political leader of the opposition Liberty Party detailed that the Senate is not sleeping on this case and other cases.

Senator Karnga-Lawrence added that the Senate is poised to cast a vote of no confidence in the Police Inspector General and the Minister of Justice.

“We will play our part, but we are limited as well. The President has the power to act,” Senator Karnga-Lawrence asserted.
