On Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, Rev. Alvin Edward Attah, Pastor of the Eliza Turner AME Church on Camp Johnson Road, after preaching a powerful sermon, trashed out rumors circulating on social media that he has resigned as president of the AME University.
“Church, as your pastor and spiritual leader, it is necessary that I respond to this information circulating that you all have been concern about and reaching out to me. I have not resigned my position as President of the AME University. The board of trustees which is the decision making board of the institution have not received any letter of resignation from me, neither am I thinking about doing so, Rev. Attah said. I was even shocked like most of you when I heard the news of my resignation circulating, he continued.
It can be recorded that about week ago, the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) came out with a regulation mandating that every president and VPA of every university in Liberia must have an “Academic Doctorate Degree”, and not an honorary doctorate degree.
The information was published to the public by Exile Activist Martin K. N. Kollie of CACC. Kollie went on to pressure several Presidents and VPAs from different universities across the country, something that he has gotten a lot of support and cheers from the public for.
However, while speaking to his congratulation where Bishop and Mrs. David R. Daniels, Rev. Dr. Tar-U-Way R. A. Bright, and Rev. Dr. Keff Lawrence were all present, Rev. Attah held his bible while standing on the pulpit and swore that he has absolutely no fake credentials. “I worked very hard for all that I know today, and that’s why I love to educate people, Rev. Attah said”…
He also went on to encourage Liberians to seek education, because it develops a nation and helps to reduce poverty in a society, he ended.
